Hi everyone
I've received many comments lately regarding our decision to ban a well-known user from the network for misbehavior.... some of you fully support the measure, some just do not care some are pretty angry to us.
I would like to share with you all what I told those that approached me through private messages: This is a community of Forex traders... we all share a passion here, that it is Forex trading.... some of us are newbies, some have some experience, some are very advanced. Everyone is welcome to participate and to contribute as long as we show respect to each other. When the respect is lost, then we better go home and do something else.
Our policy is clear, anyone trespassing one of our red lines, will be expelled, no matter who he/she is. Our biggest and most important red line is RESPECT. Treat others the way you like to be treated... that's the red line you can never trespass here.
Sorry for this free moral lecture guys, but I thought I had to make it public.

Comment by Keith Shaw on June 26, 2012 at 1:20pm Hi Francesc,
Just a few words I’d like to say, in particular at any one who is upset that you had to ban Spiro.
Firstly I have actually spoken with Spiro on Skype on many occasions [and seen his ugly face : o) ] , I can tell you he is a real and serious student of the markets; he is passionate about forex and learning the intricacies of this business.
I can also assure you and all other users of this forum that Spiro was under no illusion that on a few recent occasions he had been treading on the red lines as mentioned in your post. It’s just how Spiro was; he described himself as a lone wolf.
He is fully aware that during his last few posts he overstepped the redline a bit too far and the STUBBORN so and so he is, he did not want to retract his post/comments.
AS SUCH HE LEFT NO OPTION BUT FOR YOU TO BAN HIM, HE WAS WARNED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO BE CRUEL TO BE KIND. AS CRAZY AS THIS SOUNDS YOU DID HIM A FAVOUR.
It is a shame because he took the time to post and did have some ‘interesting’ views, thoughts and ideas, some were serious some were entertaining, if there was a YIN he preferred to be the YANG. Every environment needs a person with opposing views and humour, just to keep things BALANCED, LIVELY and REAL.
HOWEVER RULES ARE RULES, if you can’t PLAY by the RULEs then leave graciously or regrettably by a little gentle persuasion by way of TECH SUPPORT : 0 )) !!!
I have copied Spiro’s closing comments to me on Skype:
“you have to make a funeral speak about me in fxstreet “
“you can say spiro was thinking outside the box”
Respecting his last wishes, below is my ‘speak’ , I think we can safely lay Spiro and this matter to rest now, those who want to mourn can do so , I have already shed my tears :0 ))
Kind Regards
Keith ;-)
Comment by 2ndSkiesForex on June 26, 2012 at 1:56pm Hello Francesc,
First off, I fully support you in this endeavor and your decision.
This forum is about trading, learning process and sharing ideas. But unfortunately people sometimes bring their egos to the learning process, which can translate into bashing others, putting others down, and engaging in negative or disrespectful behavior.
This really affects the learning process and environment as a whole, and the goal of this forum which is learning, trading and sharing ideas openly.
But when there is no respect in a debate, discussion, or communication, then there is no communication at all. I've noticed a difference since you made your decision and the forum definitely feels more supportive towards a positive learning environment.
When I first started participating in this forum, it had a feel of openness and curiosity - like a positive space towards learning. It changed for a bit, but I feel these recent changes have moved it back towards what this forum is designed to be about;
Trading
Learning
Sharing Ideas
All while being respectful.
So I support you wholeheartedly, and am always happy to be a part of your community.
Kind Regards,
Chris
Comment by 2ndSkiesForex on June 26, 2012 at 4:14pm @ Keith,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here regarding my most adoring fan.
Some things that I find interesting about it;
I don't disagree with you he was passionate about trading and a serious student. Don't doubt that at all and completely agree with you.
But the bottom line was, his communication style was at a minimum passive aggressive, and more often than not disrespectful to many, along with often being negative.
I'm not saying we should not 'look' at the negative or more interesting side of things. But that doesn't mean it has to be presented in such a disrespectful way.
We can be respectful, and bring opposing sides to the table. We can disagree, while still respecting others. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Spiro has crystallized his 'identity' or image of himself as 'The Lone Wolf' which is just an identity to protect oneself from understanding how his actions affect others. The fact he was fully aware of how he overstepped his bounds, but did it anyway, shows his lack of consideration and respect for others.
It demonstrates Spiro only considering 'his point of view' which is a very one-sided conversation and non-productive. If you really want to help others, you cannot be frozen in your view of things only. You have to be able to consider the other's perspective and where they are coming from. This is true not just of the learning/educational process, but of any healthy relationship.
But Spiro admits to the opposite of this (via your description of what he said), by being 'the stubborn person he is'. He chose to not retract his posts - even with the awareness it was crossing a line. He chose to write them anyway - using the excuse 'I am what I am' as if he's incapable of being anyone else. He's intelligent, and had the awareness of what he was doing, he just 'chose' to do things a certain way.
This communicates he chose 'his' selfish method of doing things, while demonstrating a complete lack of respect for Francesc, FXStreet, the forum, and others.
Yes, perhaps environments need a 'yang', or person with opposing views - but this does not give them license to do so with such disregard for others, and to do so with a complete lack of respect.
Giving opposing views can be done consciously, can be done skillfully, and can be done while considering the possibility they themselves are wrong. This means having a quality of openness, and Spiro seemed to (in my view) lack this openness in almost every situation he encountered.
He would often tell people 'throw away that garbage, why do you use that crap, just use this and this and thats all you need'. This is not supportive to this forum, to the learning process, to people's individuality, their ability to know whats better for them (than someone who doesn't even know them), and a litany of other things I could talk about.
Things can be balanced, lively, and real, while being open minded, considerate and respectful of others. While leaving one's 'fixed' ideas about what is best for others, of being willing to be wrong. We can have thinking 'outside the box' while having consideration and respect for others.
Spiro (imo) lacked those things. Wearing one's heart on one's sleeve doesn't entitle people to a free license to disrespect others.
This is just my view and thoughts on the situation, and I'm open to being wrong and communicating further about this.
Kind Regards,
Chris

Comment by Francesc Riverola on June 26, 2012 at 6:21pm Janos: time will tell.... we do not think we made any stupidity with what you call "cracking Forexmosphere private forum".... it is a private forum inside our property and we monitor everything inside our boundaries.... same with Spiro, we monitor and we act
Comment by 2ndSkiesForex on June 26, 2012 at 6:45pm Hello All,
In regards to 'cracking' the private forum, Francesc owns this site and has a right to monitor any parts of it to make sure the code of conduct is being followed. If something went really afoul in that private forum, and a legal action ensued, Francesc would be held liable.
If outside investors wanted to work with Francesc on another project, but viewed his current projects and found things like Spiro posted, it would reflect upon Francesc.
Its his business, and his job to make sure the environment, respect and code of conduct is followed. But if there is a corner of his house he cannot monitor, then he puts the entire business at risk and the whole thing could go down from 'not monitoring' one room in the house.
As to my final comments on Spiro, his closing comments were;
“you can say spiro was thinking outside the box”
Even here, Spiro doesn't seem to get it imo. Instead of his final words being that of apologies to the forum, he chose to 'defend' himself by justifying his behavior, saying he was 'thinking outside the box' and using this as a vehicle of justification for his behavior.
Instead of saying, 'I'm sorry, I was wrong, I've been really disrespectful to forum members and the owners of the site, for crossing the lines when I knew I was crossing them, I apologize for my behavior which was unacceptable'...he chose to only see his point of view, that he's right, and everyone else is wrong, because he's seeing outside the box.
Even now, after being banned, he is only seeing things from his point of view, that what he did was acceptable, that being disrespectful is ok because its thinking outside the box.
This is the point Spiro is missing, and it shows he hasn't learned anything from this experience - at least from his last comments left to Keith.
Nobody was ever doubting Spiro's passion for trading and taking this seriously. He also had some intelligence as he was able to bring up some interesting points.
But he lacked (imo) self-awareness, kindness towards others, and ultimately the wisdom to act differently in this situation, seeing how his actions affected others. He lacked the awareness outside of himself and his own point of view.
Again, this is just how i see the situation, my experience and interpretation of it.
Kind Regards,
Chris
Comment by Trae on June 26, 2012 at 11:59pm personally, I want to thank you who manage this site, and make it possible for us to share thoughts and ideas, we should respect everyone here, just think about it guys... we trade Forex for crying out loud we are all awesome people here and smart!!! trading Forex is not easy, we all can pat ourselves on the back in this sense, there is no reason to be just rude, there is nothing wrong with respectfully disagreeing, but some of the comments that spiro made were just un called for, I know cause he posted his rude thoughts on one of my post. So thank you for taking notice It is so nice to have everyone here to talk with and learn from and share Ideas, I respect you all for the traders you are. Trae~
thank you for explaining. big loss as far as i m concerned. he forced people to be accountable too bad his delivery was unacceptable by the majority. i imagine you re well aware of this but theres a lot of subtle direspectful comments at times. it is less in your face for sure but just as disrespectful.
he crossed your boundries, you had to make a decision or live with anarchy, thats tough. i support you in that, but i m still sad to see him go.

Comment by Keith Shaw on June 27, 2012 at 9:00am @Chris, HOLA ,
That was a bit of rant and you used my post as a piggy back lol ... hope you've got it all of your chest now : 0 )) .
Not entirely sure he was your number one fan : 0)), don't think he'd be one to get out of bed in the middle of the night and click the 'like' button every time you make a post. You do have some very loyal and disciplined fans though and kudos to you, perhaps you could encourage them to particiapte more in the forum. ; 0 )
I think there was definitely a Yin & Yang relationship between you and our departed friend and a healthy one. As Gissa mentions there was some good humour and banter, I will admit I will miss that. Perhaps it's just the folks on the other side of the pond who have a warped sense of humour : O )
My post was directed specifically to Francesc and others who may have been angry at the decision Francesc had to make. I actually sent Francesc an internal email letting him know I would be posting a response. The reason I posted is because I have dialogue with Spiro regularly, as such I feel I know him better than anyone else on this forum.
He says he will not miss this forum (it's called denial), I KNOW HE WILL BECAUSE WE ARE ALL HERE : o)) . There have been a number of recent reincarnations on this forum, the regular and active members of this community know who they are. When they come back in their various guises they are generally better behaved. ; 0 )
The matter has been dealt with professionally by Francesc and his team, a funeral speech has been made, some people are in mourning [ :-)] time to move on. It's a little unfair to drag someone's name through the mud when they are at the pearly gates or in hades and are no longer here to defend themselves. I'm certainly not here to defend him because he wouldn't want me to. I think he always did a fine job of defending himself in his UNIQUE way.
Ultimately on this forum we are ALL guests of FxStreet.com and FxStreet.net, guests of Francesc and the good members of his workforce / team. I also believe Francesc considers some of the active users and contibuters to this forum as extended members of his team and respects peoples differing opinions including those of Spiro's. However RULES are RULES, my post was very concise.
At times we all come close to those red lines, it's because we love each other or we love to hate each other and as Gissa mentions the occasional rush of blood to the head causes us to act stupidly. : O )) .
More than happy to communicate further on this, let's do it privately, there is an interesting little story I'd like to share with you that shows you the integrity of this person. I may post it here, I'll check with Spiro. With some of the recent topics you have been discussing and exploring Chris, i.e. laws of abundance etc... I think you and a number of folk in the forum would find this story interesting, it's very simple but interesting nonetheless and I'd be curious to here your views on the back of it.
You have my email, if I remember correctly the last communications we had were regarding ITC ;-)
NB: Francesc mentioned the word "SHARING" in his original post, " we all SHARE a passion here" . Sharing is powerful, it reminded me of why I joined this forum and also of some great words of wisdom from some early readings of Jim Rohn. I will SHARE this in a separate post.
One Big Team, One Love
Keith
