This is a little guide about the first steps for new users at ForexStreet.net

This should be the first place to check. There you can set your privacy preferences.
We strongly recommend to change your real name by a Nickname, easier to remember and first protection to your privacy. It can be changed in the "full name" field
It is also the place where you can change your "photo", that is the avatar that will be shown in all your comments and posts in the network. We encourage you to change it , be creative ;)

Privacy
One of the major concerns from a user point of view.
Here you can control what activity will be shown in your page ("My page" main menu link) and who can post there.

Email
This is the place to set what kind of notifications you will receive by email. By default there are almost all options checked and this can be a little annoying fulling your inbox with unwanted emails. Set your preferences at your convenience.

My Page
Control how the appearance of your page will be. Most of these features can be directly changed in My Page. We will explain it there.

Connections
If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, here you can synchronize it with you ForexStreet one. You can use many other sites credentials to log in into the network.

My Page

This is your personal page at Forexstreet.net. Here you can see all the activity you have requested to be informed about. It is also the place where you can be updated about your friends activity.
You can personalize it with your own style, move the applications by dragging (clicking in the title bar) and dropping them wherever you want and edit their preferences (edit in the app title bar).

Chat

In the bottom right corner of your screen you can see the chat bar. There are 3 buttons, the triangle one is to slide up the chat room, the 2 squares one is to detach the chat in a new resizable window and the last one is to connect/disconnect .
There is also a chat link in the main menu to go directly to the page containing the chat.

Groups
Groups are the pages to find members with the same interests as you. Any member can add a group and invite others to join it. There are private and public groups. To join a private group you have to be accepted by the creator.

Blogs
All ForexStreet.net members are allowed and encouraged to post their interest in blog posts. A blog post is a public article to share knowledge, doubts and interests with the community.

The Content team of FXstreet.com selects and highlights the best posts on the website, Fxstreet.com. So be creative and produce quality content and you'll

Videos
At this moment videos have to be approved before going public. An FXstreet.com administrator will approve or reject videos in less than 24 hours in working days (usually less than 4 hours)

I have been using the site for about a year now - and although I really like FX Street and forex street - I have become increasing frustrated this last month - every since chat was changed.

I have no problem with the new set up  ( also no problems with change etc) - but the site is so slow and freezes and fails to respond at times.

When i use it on my laptop with a dongle and 3G Broadband - it really chews up the supply quickly ( far greater than 3 months ago) - the chat keep going back to the start - i will post comments on blogs - and then they will not send etc etc.

Please believe me - its not just me - Unfortunately there are far too many "downloads" taking place on every page change and generally - its sad - but its frustrating and not so good.

I hope it can be "streamlined" quickened- or what ever is needed to upgrade it again

Thank you for listening and look forward to your comments

Regards

Peter

Yes Peter, the new chat is not friendly. I have downloaded Google Chrome browser and the "slowness" seemed to have gone but not the scrolling back. I still use the old chat in Chrome browser.

Hi Peter and Sundaram.

We have been forced to change the main chat to the new html 5 version. Ning has disrupted support for the old chat, and they can switch off the old version without notification from May 1st on. We have forwarded to Ning all the complains you sent us and we are also looking for a chat to integrate in the network, but is hard to do it maintaining a single sign on and unifying administration.

Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Setxi for your reply.

This last few days it as actually got worse and today i have not even attempted to go into the chat room - due to all the delays and scrolling back - making it difficult to use.

I only hope they can respond and fix the problem quickly.

Regards

Peter
