The ability of the Fed to increase the amount of money in banks' reserve accounts; that's what most people mean when they talk about money printing and that's under the direction of the Fed.
See the very interesing short video below as Jim Bianco explains how the Fed Prints Money.

Comment by Keith Shaw on February 19, 2012 at 7:51pm Hey Peter, I think that’s the creature from Jekyll Island , regarding a block buster Hollywood movie, from what I understand currently the whole 'FED' thing is a REAL LIVING NIGHTMARE for the American populous. Interestingly enough Jekyll Island is a real island of the coast of Georgia, it was a resort island for the elite inner circle of the super rich of that era, namely high ranking banking officials and their associates. It was at the JP Morgan Estate on Jekyll Island in 1910 that The Fedral Reserve System was conceived during a highly secretive meeting that took place there.
As unbelievable as this may sound it is said at that time in history the seven men in attendance at that secret meeting directly and indirectly represented 1/4th of the wealth of the entire world. These seven mapped out the blue print for The Federal Reserve System. As they say the rest is history or a continuing living nightmare.....

Comment by Keith Shaw on February 19, 2012 at 11:15pm Thanks Janos, not come across that book or read any biograhphies of any of the above 'gentlemen'. I was aware that many years after Woodrow Wilsen made the Federal Reserve Act Law, some of these guys did write articles and books that essentially revealed the secret meeting did take place etc. Will add that book to my reading list. Also it is said that a fews years after being party to the act Woodrow Wilsen bitterly regretted his decison and the below qoute is referenced in many articles, how TRUE it is I am not sure.
