EGO : the "I" or self of any person

EGO:  the “I” or self of any person

Imagine a world without EGO. No…

Toes to step on
Feelings to hurt
Fair shares to grab
Territory to defend
Fault to allocate
Back to watch
Last words to get
Ideas to hold back
Embarrassment to bear
Battles to win
Knowledge to prove
Entitlement to have
Encouragement to withhold
Credit to seek
Grudges to hold
Jealousy to feel
Revenge to take
Hidden meanings to construe
Just pure care.
To be no ego…

Be humble. Understand you are a (small) part of the world. Service and patience should be your top priorities.

*

Be teachable. Focus on what you can learn, rather than what you know. Remember that almost everything you learn comes from the work of someone else.

*

Listen more. Make every effort to truly understand what others are saying (beyond just words). Allow a gap of silence before responding. Ask question (and listen, again).

*

Appreciate people. Enjoy others’ contributions. Don’t squelch ideas or defend territory. Encourage more.

*

Relax. Let go of the need to be right or win every time.

*

So what do you say? You up for it? Speak no ego. Be no ego.

*

PS: wouldn’t the Blogosphere and The ForeXmosphere be a little boring with out a few Eccentric’s and  the Odd Ego.  ALL WORK AND NO PLAY .....  How boring would that be ;-)

Nearly half way through the year !!! roll on Sunny June, Good Trading To You All.

Hi Keith - like a true Brit - I am super competitive and anything I put my heart and soul into - I would like to be the "best". - I suppose thats "ego" for you.

However as you grow older and wiser - you then realise - you might be the best as some sport or pastime or business - within you local area - BUT there will always be some one better than you some where in this great big wide World.

In theory if there are say 2 million world wide retail traders ( might be a lot more now) and you even made the top 5% - that would mean there could still be 99999 traders better than you :-)

So first lesson to learn in trading - learn to lose and learn to be wrong - because you will be :-)

It can be great being on a trading site and making a good call - you feel good and other traders think - yes - he knows what he is doing - I will follow him - thats all i need to do ( No wrong )

Then when you make a live call in a chat room and it going wrong - you feel a numpty - embarassed etc etc . But you should not - because you will be wrong at times - thats just a fact

Similar by old Boss in a business 20 years ago use to say to me and other senior personal ( hes now a multi billionaire and World famous - with a massive ego - but he is also an introvert) - I want guys who are better than me to run my companies - because then i will make more money :-). At that time he was involved with 129 companies - many needed streamlining and closing down - out of every 10 he bought or developed only 3 or 4 would go to greater success. You tended not to hear about all the failures only the successful ones - because he made sure his "marketing team" always portrayed success - and his ego demanded it.

We all need an "Ego" - but we all need to know when and when not to use it ;-)

Without self esteem and pride etc and all the other points you mention - what then would we all be like.

PS  - Why have you placed that man at the top of the pyramid ? - ;-)

Peter "the man" at the top of the pyramid is Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson , a former PAL of yours  I beleive  ;-)
