The fabled New York Reversal has again cut in front of you in traffic! Right on the open, the whole direction for the session does an about-face. Nothing like a little road rage from the morning commute to work to make global markets feel our pain...…

Seeing as how Quantitative Easing is continuing full force (regardless that the FOMC is now thinking of tapering it off, it is still continuing), then I expect USD to continue to drop. Europe is a mixed bag, but not in a panic, so at least the general picture there is stable. So, I expect EURUSD to incline upside. On the daily chart, the trend is still up, despite the strong recent pullback:…

...so we all lived in the same time zone ;) see, I have trouble getting up early to trade. This has always been a problem for me. And its not like I'm talking about getting up in time for normal work hours - oh no - I'm talking about getting up for London Open, like any serious FX trader would. But London Open is 3am for New York City! That basically means rearranging my life, where I either stay up all night into late morning, or start going to sleep at the same time everyone else around…

So, Lisa, this is what I mean. Below is EURUSD 15 min chart. There is only one level that "qualifies", so I have to wait and wait and wait for price to come up to short it from the level. I hate waiting. I've marked up 12 different pairs for qualifying levels, but it is just so much waiting. The criteria is so strict that very few setups are available in a single day, even on a 15 min chart. Yesterday I had two. I'm not going to sit and watch grass grow, if you know what I mean, but luckily…

I'm playing with Tradestation's various charting methods and indicators, and I had a little discovery you all may find interesting. On a 1 minute chart, I can have a "tick volume" indicator, showing me the number of trades per minute (not the size of the trades like normal volume), and it looks like this:…

Since my last post of my back test of my Ema Crossover code generated so much interest, I figured I might as well go all the way and dump all the historic data and stats Tradestation can offer with this strategy (Peter JCP, this one is for you!).
The Glorious Strategy
Simply put, on a daily chart using a 20 and 50 ema crossover, any crossover up opens a long position, any crossover down closes the long and opens a short, and on it goes as far as I have historic…

The purpose of this experiment is to backtest a basic exponential ema crossover strategy on a daily chart (using two years of data) of choice currency pairs, to see how viable it may be. The crossover strategy will be compared to a basic Bollinger Bands strategy. This will provide a comparison of a trending strategy against a range strategy. The strategies are written in EasyLanguage and executed on Tradestation. The Bollinger Bands strategy comes with Tradestation, the ema crossover…

Does anyone use an FX market depth feed like OrderBookFx? I use Tradestation, and the best market depth they give me is merely the volume of the inside bid and ask. That isn't enough.

ABSTRACT
We present strong evidence that option trading volume contains information about future stock price movements. Taking advantage of a unique dataset from the Chicago Board Options Exchange, we construct put-call ratios from option volume initiated by buyers to open new positions. On a risk- adjusted basis, stocks with low put-call ratios outperform stocks…
