BLOW UP your trading account why don’t you

I love competition and welcome it in almost any scenario, but when I keep seeing demo trading competitions offered by brokers in an effort to attract demo users one has to wonder who are they helping here?

Lets see, generally speaking the winner of a contest is determined by who has the…

Lost in translation; moving from hindsight into reality

Am excited, this technical analysis thing is just amazing; I should push the button and move into trading real money; I have been through this when I first started years ago just like many newbie’s. Be careful; do not get ambushed in this self-made trap.

If you’re a new inexperienced trader…

A Message from the Market (Tribute to Franz Kafka)

The Market, or so they say, has sent you – his single most abhorrent speculator, the most insignificant trader, a data point that was most certainly made up when an interviewer ran out of ink – only to you has the Market sent a message from his deathbed.  He has had the messenger be…

A Question to All Traders

I have been working on a thought experiment for traders here that I will be doing a webinar on in about a month, but before that, wanted to ask all of you traders a question which I think will produce some interesting answers.

The question is the following;

What would you feel like if you were a highly successful trader?

Awareness, Concentration and Trading - Chris Capre

The markets are our testing ground, and trading is the vehicle through which can clearly see the results of our work, our discipline (or lack thereof) and our concentration.  It is through these two (the markets and trading) we have the live opportunity to see habitual patterns that either help us move forward, or hold us back from achieving our goals and trading profitably day in day out.

Because this process is so informative, the fertile experience is rich…

Trading Analysis and Gary Kasparov

In 2009, Gary Kasparov, one of the world's greatest chess players of all time (now retired from competitive chess), played what is a called a simul game exhibition. In this exhibition, he played 25 simultaneous games against some of the top local talent all that the same time. The opposing players had as much time as they wanted to think about their moves while Gary had only about 5 seconds (max 30) per table to make his move.  Below are the results of this…

Price Action Trading - Chris Capre

We have been getting a lot of questions from newer traders to price action on what is price action and how can one do price action trading.  What we are going to cover is the traditional definition of price action, how we approach it differently than others, and how can one trade price action in the forex market.

The Psychology of Risk

Just a few days ago, I was talking to someone named Marshall.  His dad is the head of a major investment firm which manages over $1Billion.  We are in talks with his fathers firm about investing with our fund and Marshall was the first person we were talking to.  We got into a really good conversation about the psychology of risk and some great things came out of the conversation. But first, we are going to start with a question;

Have you ever heard of a hedge…

Poker, Concentration and Trading

When I am not trading, or preparing for trading, I spend a lot of my time watching professionals, particularly high-level professionals.  I find watching any high-level professional in any field gives me tremendous insight into being a professional, how to operate at a high level, and how I can improve my trading.

This week I had a buffet in studying…

Preparation and Forex Trading

Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.

-Alexander Graham Bell

Many times I talk to my private course students and ask them what they do to prepare for the day's trading. These are the general responses I get;

-Drink a cup of coffee, maybe two

-Check out what announcements are coming out

-Look at the markets and then get ready to trade

And it ends about there.  To me, this is somewhat shocking.  Perhaps…

Trading Lessons from the Archery Range pt. 2

Yesterday was the most interesting class at the range in the last year and a half.  Not because it was the last class before I move to another country, but because of the exercise we practiced for an hour and a half. It required an absolute sense of awareness with one's technique, feeling and positioning, but it required something else.  It required one to go against temptation.

The Exercise

After…

Trading Lessons from the Archery Range (pt. 1)

Yesterday was my first day back at the range in a week.  I had some problems with my shoulder so was resting it, but yesterday it felt better.  Even though I've been shooting for over a year now and won two competitions, there is still a lot of work to do.

I was shooting decently consistent to start off yesterday...scoring a 10 (perfect), a 9 (in the gold center) and an 8 (red - one level off from the gold center) for every 3 shots (round) from 18m which =…

The Pyramid of Trading

Earlier this week I was talking to a student who is starting his private forex mentoring with me.  He was actually referred to me by a previous student I spent time mentoring two years ago.  This former students name is Tony and had no prior experience in trading, nor a degree in business or finance. But he had a serious desire to learn how to trade successfully while putting in the work and study.

Occasionally he writes me an email to tell me he is still trading and doing well.  He…
