Forex Price Action Setup $NZDUSD

We are writing on vacation but wanted to send a quick post.

As we commented yesterday in our Forex Price Action Setups article, the NZDUSD had broken above the key fib + the .8500 barrier and likely was to test this level (20ema as well) then look for higher ground.

Looking at the 4hr chart below, you can see it did exactly that shortly after… Continue

"Forextra" aka the Forex Market Pulse

I spent some time talking about the futures market this morning in the FXStreet Wednesday webinar. The relationship between futures and forex is one that I am very familiar with because I have been trading futures nearly 20 years. The Dow, the dollar, crude oil, gold, bonds, Continuous Commodity Index are all indispensable to forex traders.

The problem often is how to get futures charts...and get a read of the futures market. I talk about two choice in the video below. It's twelve… Continue

The EURUSD tests 100 day SMA at the 1.4364 level

The EURUSD is testing the key 100 day MA at the 1.4364 level.  The last 7 trading days has not had a close below this MA level.  A close below the level today would be bearish from a technical perspective and should lead to further downside pressure.     The price is also below the midpoint of the move…

Price Action Setup as $GBPUSD Rejects off Key Resistance Level

After advancing 24 of the last 28 hours on the 4hr time frame, the $GBPUSD has rejected off of the 1.6450 level which was prior resistance as you can see on the chart below from Aug. 1st and 7th of this month.

So far, the rejection is decent (approx. 44pips) so traders should watch to see how this candle… Continue

EUR/USD Breakout Attempt Failed

Euro dollar kicked off the week with a move above the range and reached a one month high. This was short lived, and the pair is back in range. European worries are growing in two fronts: the stability of the European banking system and the passage of the new powers for the bailout funds are in doubt. Will it make another attempt to break higher? Or fall from here?

Here’s a quick…

EUR/USD forecast 25.08.2011

Trade on the FOREX market these days is so boring, we are moving for several days just in between 1.4350 and 1.4480. All are waiting for the end of summer holidays. Analysts say mr.Bernarke won't announce QE3 on Friday, but what is going to happen knows just mr.Bernarke and that's why all are keeping their LONGs. I'm doing the same too. If we take a look at the charts we may see that EUR is in an uptrend for nearly 5 weeks. And for the past 10 days we are above 1.4260 and never think to go…

EUR/USD Defying Gravity

Euro dollar continues to trade at high ground despite new bad figures and worries about Greece. The complications concerning the Finnish demand for collateral aren’t taking their toll at the moment. Will it fall later on?

Here’s a quick update on technicals, fundamentals and what’s going on in the markets.

EUR/USD forecast 24.08.2011

Looks like EUR is not going to test the 1.40 and also there are no preconditions for that. As I've said with a 1.25% rate difference in favor of the EUR and with no rate hike in the following 18 months by FED, EUR is fated to rise. We have seen a quick rise and fall then rise again yesterday, typical choppy trading as i've forecasted yesterday. The problem is that choppy trading is in a very narrow range about 100 pips. And it's very difficult to determine direction for it. That's why i'm…

In Pursuit of Mechanical Signals

Having found myself scalping on the wrong side of the big intraday move far too often, I am trying to find something that will help refine my direction. I am going to experiment with using a modified MACD along with my usual levels/stoch set up. Often the stoch will OB/OS a couple bars before a reversal, which would then show on the MACD as the signal line and its moving average getting closer and then crossing. I may lean more on using that setup to tell me when a strong move is coming to a… Continue

$USDCHF Rejects off Big Figure

After its nascent rise over 5 days from .7070 to .8000, the pair has been stuck in a range which we have blogged about before what the key levels traders needed to watch.  It has not disappointed and has rejected 3x off the big figure at .8000 which also happens to be the 50% fib of the .8944 - .7070 downmove.  …

FOREX VIDEO | New York Session Review | August 18, 2011

A broad sell-off of European bank stocks and a horrible Philly Fed report contributed to a risk off mood in the foreign exchange market. The GBP/USD currency pair dropped 110 pips from its New York morning high.
