Congratulations to all those which were able to attend the FIRST Barcelona Forex Group Meetup.
When I entered the room and saw all those faces with beaming smiles, I was taken aback. I expected 2 or 3 people to turn up and some stragglers to arrive as the night progressed. But a room full of smilers wanting to chat about forex with perfect strangers. It still sends shivers down my spine. So many talented people in one room (me excluded), made me know that something special had just been born. So what's the point!!! Does there need to be one? Can't we just be good friends, confidants and beer buddies. Sure we can and there is no pressure to do or be anything more.
But last night made me think back to my childhood days, when I attended a group of crazy geeky techie kids that built robots out of lego, microswitches and elastic bands. A Saturday afternoon meeting at our local grammar school, like a kindergarden for LOGO programmers. It was a crazy time of experimentation, limitless boundaries and supportive friendships. This group expanded over time and is now MICROSOFT!!! only joking, it fizzled out as we got older and the school resources dried up. I miss those good old innocent days.
But what is clear from the Barcelona groups ability to meetup in the rain and go drink the Cocteleria Boada dry of beer, is that there is a passion for adventure in each and every one of the attendee's. This is rare and should be cherished, nurtured and given the chance to grow into a huge MONSTER!!!!! Arrrr.
So to keep the trend going. I would like to organize a regular meetup time of the first Thursday of each month. The next being the 7th of March. What saith ye?
Also I would like there to be a topic for each meeting, so that we can think beforehand and come fully opinionated. I would like the members to propose topic ideas as soon as possible so that we can start to formulate a cunning plan, and more importantly understand whats really relevant to you all at the moment. Apart from the rain that is.
Best wishes to you all,
Humbly,
Chris.
(Don't worry I don't stay humble Grrr)

Thanks for organizing the inaugural event. It was great both interesting and fun. Having regular monthly meeting sounds like a great idea. We can certainly start with a specific topic, but when the beer begins flowing, I cannot promise to stick to that topic...
Cheers!

Hi Chris,
Great idea to organize the meetings around knowledge sharing. We can also do it in a way that every month ONE or TWO persons prepare some topic, and expose it to the others. Everyone in the group has to give some kind of actionable content to be part of it- this could be the membership price.
We would need a place for it, but this can be surely arranged.
Cheers everyone and have a nice weekend!

I support the idea of "meeting around knowledge sharing" as Gonçalo has put it. I'm FAR from being an expert, but I think I've got a few interesting topics to talk about and share. In fact I'm in the process of preparing it already. Being a visual thing, I would need to be able show it some how though.
