Knight Capital and "flash crash"
To err is human - but to really foul up - you need the help of computers ;-)
Remember you cannot fully depend on them - they are designed and manufactured etc by humans
They don't need holidays - they don't go on strike - but when they want to play up - boy - can they ruin things
As an example what happened on Wednesday with the "flash crash" involving Knight Capital - should not have happened . A fail safe device what cuts in to stop these things - only works after the market as been open for 15 minutes. When the crash happened- the market had just opened.
So - to all traders who have "bots" - just keep an eye on them as even the most costliest, biggest and best - can still go wrong - and ruin your account far quicker than most humans

Hi Peter,
Yes, I agree with you that we cannot fully depends on them as long as we as humans are able to resolve everything well. and then we can still smile at a time when our computers suddenly crashes and even no worries when it can not be used for several days :)
mmm.. maybe we should meet what is expected of our computers, needs a better programmer :)
